This portrait of Alfred Stieglitz was taken at his “An American Place” gallery which was a mecca for aspiring artists, photographers, and collectors. It operated from 1929 until its close in 1950. Photographed in front of his wife, Georgia O’Keeffe’s painting, the couple were together for 20 years and had a significant influence on one another.
