Print Notes

It is likely that Ansel also made a negative of this image as he often shot Polaroid's to test his exposure before recording the image on film. Inscribed to Meyer (the chairman of Paul Masson Vineyards) and both a friend and early supporter of Ansel's. Among their children, Thomas Meyer and his sister, Ursula Gropper opened the Grapestake Gallery in San Francisco with their father's backing. The gallery ran for ten years (1974-1984). In 1987, its collection was donated to the Smithsonian.
